Heavy blow to Malawi's education: Now how do we deal with such cases...

Headmaster foils MSCE results at St George Academy

Students who sat for this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education Examinations  (MSCE) at St. George Academy in Chikuli near Chileka International Airport are bitter with the school’s management because their results are not available because the headmaster did not pay exam fees at Malawi National Examinations Board  (Maneb).
The headmaster, Boniface Psatirani, has since fled into hiding and police are looking for him.
The headmaster fled from the campus soon after the MSCE results were released by Maneb two weeks ago.
Some parents whose children were at the school disclosed to Nyasa Times that Maneb has not released results for the students because the school did not pay all the exam fees.“We as parents are not happy with this development. We ask the management to sort this out as quickly as possible. We want to know the fate of our children,” said one parent who was also supported by another.
The school was established by the late Justice George Chimasula and his wife. Theirchildren are now managing it.
Some of the students who are affected by this development have told the management to either give back their money or show them the results. But the management cannot show the results as Maneb has withheld them.
A student who is affected said he paid all the exams fees and was shocked that the headmaster, who looked innocent, could betray the school like that.
“I ask the police to hunt for this stupid headmaster and arrest him. Management should employ people with credibility. But sometimes management wants cheap labour and these are some of the consequences,” the student said.
Mrs. Chimasula could not be reached for comment.

Malawi's high school-drop out rate: What can we do about it?

Children are leaders of tommorrow, yet many are unable to realise their dream due to the daily obstacles they face while striving to achieve their goals. With increasing drop out rates Malawi is facing, we can aptly say Malawi is facing a “high-school dropout crisis”.  With the recent school drop-out trends, the question that presents itself is “what are we doing about it”? Indeed there is need for us to do something. In togetherness we can come up with something. Lets join hands and help the kids in our neighborhoods. Join the discussion forum to see if we can map the way forward and come up with a solution to this. Thanks for visiting KhanyaOnline a blogspot for Khanya Motivation Initiative. Because we care, our community is our inheritance!

KMT gets a boost....as Khanya inks a major deal

It's official..After a lengthy discussion on the terms and conditions, Khanya CC finally signed a marketing deal with Buziness Inc, a well known advertising agency which specialises in ads and several promotional items. It is yet to be known whether Khanya will benefit alot from this deal. According to Mr George Makuti(aka "Mr Germak"), Khanya's CFO, whose solely responsible for bringing the deal to life, khanya's financial benefits will depend on the input that Khanya will put in. The more Khanya will help market Buziness' product, the more the profits.."It is like the rule of the thumb", concludes Mr Germak. This deals seem to be one of the major deals that Khanya has signed so far. The Khanya CC  team was all smiles after receiving the good news.. However, as the Khanya CC founder, i had to remind the team that we are not doing things for ourselves but for the people in the streets. This means that everything that Khanya gets in this deal goes directly to Khanya Motivation Trust fund, a fund set up to help the poor.
